It presents the similarities between the historical and contemporary male gaze, which has long operated from a position of dominance, by deconstructing and fragmenting sanctified images and revealing them in a new context. Through this, it sheds light on misogynistic femicides in South Korea, highlighting the commonalities between images considered sacred and social practices that have been trivialized or normalized, and calls for a reconsideration of prevailing moral standards. Borrowing the title of a work by Hannah Arendt, this project combines with her discussion on the ‘banality of evil’ to make us re-examine our thinking.
